ARE U LOOKING FOR ONE OR GIVING ONE?
I will be graduating from a 4 year university with a major in Finance this upcoming spring. I don’t have any work experience or previous internships. I have thought about going to grad school to get my MBA but many people have said it is not as valuable until one gets work experience. So, with this being said, I am somewhat clueless as to what entry-level positions I should consider after graduation.
My ultimate goal is to become a financial advisor, which I know will take many year. After at least 3 years of valid work experience, I would like to attempt to get my CFP also. This being said, I am not sure what the best first step would be as an entry-level job if these are my goals. Also, I live in the midwest now and plan to move to the south after graduating. So, I would be looking for jobs in the carolinas, georgia, or florida…if that matters at all. I know I have asked/said a lot, but I would really like to know what steps to make after graduating. Thank you.
I would suggest to apply at a large institution/bank like Citibank, Chase, HSBC as a Personal Banker. Gain experience by recommending/advising customers of financial needs. Once you understand that concept and basics of banking and selling, you’ll be able to apply internally as a Financial Advisor…..or even something different since that position will open up many more doors!

I just graduate from college and looking for entry level jobs. What are the jobs I should look into ? Thank you
education.mypressonline.com – I found such internship info here. It has lots of internships, job openings and scolarships for college students.
Companies don’t use recruiters for entry level positions, since they are so easy to fill.
You can try Robert Half (search for them on the net) and see if you have any luck,
If you are in a student finance society, you will have better luck that way.

What are the interviews like for these positions? How about HSBC or Bank of montreal interviews? are they really tough..what kind of questions they generally ask? how many interviews they take? plz help me out here. thanks
I have interviewed with HSBC and they are generally demanding, but not excessively so. Also it depends on the position you are seeking. The position you are looking for requires highly developed interpersonal skills. Be ready to communicate effectively.
Also as a financial services executive, I recommend checking out www.learntosucceed.biz. They can make the difference, sound career advice and they will answer your specific questions.
Good Luck.

Mr. Suram
SAP is one of the leading software in the whole world. SAP FICO (Finance Accounting and Controlling). SAP experience helpful a lot, in most of the company. All the big company started to implement SAP. Because SAP got a lots of feature compared other programming. It’s also interlinking function with all the departments (Production, Marketing, HR, Finance and System). In my opinion better to chose SAP carrier compared other job. You can learn finance to in SAP.
I’m desperately trying to find a job for this summer. I know its really last minute. I already applied to about 10 jobs in my area on monsters jobs and career builder. I’m a Economics BA and finance minor. I will be a junior in the fall. Does anyone have any ideas for finding a job? My difficulty is that with where i’m at, i think an internship would be more appropriate. I’ve been applying to office assistant jobs. What are some job titles i should be looking at??? I was thinking of working in a bank but i only found a teller position open. Are there any other things i should try? I was thinking of trading stock more intensely to make some money. I really don’t want to have to resort to working at wal-mart or something.
a bank teller position is a entry level job to get your foot in the door. most banks will escalate and promote from within in a fairly quick time frame. i believe that would be your very best opportunity.
I am working towards my BA in business , most likely a core in Finance, and I have an phone interview this week for a Budgets & Planning Analyst. I’ve been studying for this on basic accounting concepts and some fianncial analysis, but still at a loss. At best, I can gauge myself on what I need to work on in by improving skillset & knowledge. I have a job but I am shooting for higher ground – its time for a change. Any help is appreciated.

–>The Phone Interview is actually a Screening process to test knowledge in skills prior to a real interview.
I’d make the phone interview as short as possible by asking for a real interview..
What is the difference between Corporate finance major and a Financial Services major? And which one has more job opportunities? Can anyone explain it to me? Thanks!
I guess your school seperates the two – most just have Finance majors. The difference amounts to where you would like to work – Financial Services would mean you intended on working for a bank, investment bank, hedge fun, Private Equity firm, Venture Capital, Asset Manager, etc – essentially working on Wall Street.
Corporate Finance jobs are finance jobs inside of a company that produces a product or service other than investing money.
I think the national sales tax idea can be a good one, but I wonder what will happen to all the jobs that have been created because the tax system is so complex.
They will still have jobs, when the government creates any new practices, they usually create the need for more people to figure it out.
I’m graduating with a bachelor’s in aeronautics engineering and I would like to consider the finance industry for my career. Where do you think I would fit best – venture capital, banking, or trading? Or anything else?
Any companies in particular?
I’m very new to finance..
It’s hard to see how you would use your aeronautical engineering degree in the finance industry. While that degree may be useful in analyzing tech companies, you would still need considerable finance education to be hired. Possibly you are thinking of an MBA. In that case your engineering degree would be a tremendous complement to an MBA degree with a concentration in finance.
I was hired at Ameriprise Financial as a "client services assistant", which essentially means filling out and filing numerous types of forms and applications, maintaining and updating client databases and information, etc. For someone who is looking to enter the financial field upon graduation, whether into the financial advising field itself or something related, would this be a decent job to get my foot in the door, so to speak?
any thing to put your foot in the door
