Hi. I am currently a Finance student seeking a future job as a Financial Advisor. I am still in school but would like to start building my experience in the Finance industry. Where can I start (entry level positions)?
I don’t know if this is something I applied for cuz I apply for so many, tho I don’t think I did, but I got an email from farmers for a farmers insurance career opportunity in sales in farmers insurance and financial services. I don’t like the idea of a commision job tho if it is a decent opportunity with real income potential then I am certainly willing to look at something even if it doesn’t totally use my acconting degree. I am unemployed with a bsba and no experience so I am struggling. However they really seem to be selling the job and that makes me skeptical cuz y do u need to sell me on a job in this economy? Anyways any insight would be appreciated.
I am currently temping for a small broker dealer firm, in compliance, which is a subsidiary of a larger corporation. I am currently doing grunt work, data entry in an excel spread for 8 hours at hour. I noticed that my boss has favored another temp and ignoring me. The office is more focused on socializing than actual work. I will admit that I am a little quiet and withdrawn, but I do socialize so that I am noticed and not forgotten. Because of the lacidazical attitude of the boss, makes me wonder whether after the end of the assignment (3 months), if he will actually hire any of the temps (me). I’ve heard from the temp agency that the company is short staff, however it doesn’t seem as if anyone does much of any thing except for maybe 3 people, who just happen to be alot less social/talkative than everyone else. I’m not sure if this will be a worthwile job to keep. Should I continue a search for permanent work.
i was offerd a job by ameriprise as a financial advisor. It does not requir a degree but you do have to take series of test that cost money(state boared, exet) the firm said they offer free training but i dont believe that includes the cost of the exams. I have to choose between switching my major to Accounting or Financial Services… They’re two separate programs, but I’m not sure which one to take. What kind of jobs require a degree in Financial Services, and what kind of jobs require a degree in Accounting? Which would you recommend and why?
Any information at all will be great. Even if you can’t answer all my questions, answering one or a couple would be appreciated, too.

I am a recent university graduate with a Bachelor’s of Science in Biology from a prestigious university. However, I would like to go into finance and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for what kind of job opportunities I can pursue? I have a fairly high quantitative aptitude (I took a full-length, timed GMAT yesterday for the first time, without practice, and scored a 720). Thanks in advance for your advice!!!

What other jobs can I get besides sales position? I’m looking for more of Salary with bonus and not commission type of jobs. I am holding Series 6 and Series 63, eventually I will get my series 7. My salary right now is under 40k (low, I know). What other jobs are out there that needs the 6 & 63 and make a bit more money? Thanks in advance.
I’m about to graduate from grad school soon. I’ve applied to hundreds of online postings but still got nowhere. I’ve spoken to professors, classmates, and my friends. I really don’t want to move back in with Mom & Dad. Can anyone help?
What I mean is that, in any financial companies like AXA financial or Metlife, if they offer you the job as a financial advisor, is it possible to negotiate with them about my starting date? For example, if they offer me a job right now, will they accept if I could start on a specific date like weeks or a month from now for some important reasons I will tell them?
