www.northstarplanners.com Another thing your broker isnt telling you is that the interests of HIS (or her) employer are coming first ahead of you! Brokers do not have to put your interests ahead of their own. They only have to sell you investments that are suitable, which says NOTHING about the cost to you. DOES THAT SEEM CRAZY? IT SHOULD! In which John celebrates financial independence by explaining how minimum-wage summer jobs can become incredibly lucrative if only you save some of your money in a retirement account. In the US, the most common retirement accounts are called IRAs (IRAs have tax advantages), but any investment account will do. Just sock the money away in a low-fee diverse mutual fund, wait 50 years, and enjoy the magic of compound interest. Caveat: Obviously, I am not a financial advisor or investment professional. I am a novelist. Also, while it’s a good idea to start an IRA in high school for most people, it may be a BAD idea if you’re planning to seek financial aid from a private college in the US, because they might count your retirement savings against your financial aid application. (If you attend or will attend a public university, this is unlikely to happen according to my research, although again, I am a novelist, not a banker.) I plan to go to UVA and get a degree. What degree should I get for venture capital? (economics, undergrad business, or finance?) I think one of my strongest suits is my international capability. I know English, French, and Chinese fluently, and have passable Spanish, Arabic, and Hindi. Where could I get an entry level job, how much will it pay, how fast does it promote, and what is the possibility I could actually get one? Thanks for any help.
I am about to graduate with a bachelor of arts degree in economics with a 3.8+ gpa. I plan to move to Seattle, WA and enroll in night law school. I am interested in finance and banking, and would like to work during the day in banking. What kind of careers would be available to me? What could I do to boost my credentials (exams, banking school programs?). Any advice would be great.
I’m desperately trying to find a job for this summer. I know its really last minute. I already applied to about 10 jobs in my area on monsters jobs and career builder. I’m a Economics BA and finance minor. I will be a junior in the fall. Does anyone have any ideas for finding a job? My difficulty is that with where i’m at, i think an internship would be more appropriate. I’ve been applying to office assistant jobs. What are some job titles i should be looking at??? I was thinking of working in a bank but i only found a teller position open. Are there any other things i should try? I was thinking of trading stock more intensely to make some money. I really don’t want to have to resort to working at wal-mart or something.
www.northstarplanners.com Allen Giese, President of NorthStar Financial Planners shows us a few questions to ask BEFORE you hire that Financial Advisor Before you hire a financial advisor, you should NOT HOLD BACK- ask anything you want to know its your right to ask questions that may be hard! Ask what the advisor did in 2008 and 2009. What were their tactics? Did they try to avoid market losses? (Look for disciplined advisors who say, We stuck to our strategy; we knew we were in a tough time but we knew that the right long term approach was to stay fully invested). www.northstarplanners.com There are a number of thing your broker or commissioned investment advisor would really rather you just didnt know Here are four of the most interesting ones 1) The expenses of the mutual funds recommended to you are really really high. 2) The interests of the advisor’s employer come first, and NOT YOU. 3) Your account is not diversified. 4) Your 22% return was 6% below market! There are three types of financial advisors out there 1) those that only charge a fee for their services (fee-only: have a fiduciary requirement), 2) those who earn a commission from the products they sell you (fee-based: only have a suitability standard), and 3) those who have a fee-based side to their commissioned business, which allows them to play both sides when its convenient for them… NorthStar Financial Planners, Inc, fee-only financial planning firm in Plantation Florida: The Fine Art of Wealth Management.
I’m currently in school majoring in Finance and getting my minor in Economics. While trying to find an entry level position with a finance company in the Tampa, FL area, I came across an opening at Edward Jones for a financial advisor. However, while reading over the job description it sounds a little like one of those “work form home, own your own business” kind of jobs. Does anyone know or happen to work at Edward Jones as a financial advisor? I don’t want to waste my time or theirs. Thank you

I just finished my degree in Economics. I’m great at sales. Even better at understanding market trends. And I have a passion for the industry. I just need to get my foot in the right door. Any suggestions?
when i was younger i was stupid and got a couple of DUI convictions on my record. now I’m 27 with a BS degree in Finance and Economics and love those fields. My Q is can i still get a series 7, a CFA designation, or even become a bank manager? I’ve stayed out of trouble with the law for 6 years now. Should I find another career?
