Quitting your job as a financial advisor to go to another company… what is this waiver called?

Posted by admin on January 4th, 2012 and filed under financial advisor jobs | 2 Comments »

I remember I had to sign a paper when I was hired for the trainee program a few months ago, and it said I can’t go to work to any other broker/dealer for two years. Do you know what this is called?
I am not sure it was a non-compete clause. What I understand is them trying to get the money they have spent on training back from the other broker/dealer. I also heard they will attempt to get the money only if you quit, no if you are fired. Any thoughts?

Centennial College: Financial Services 2 year Program

Posted by admin on September 29th, 2011 and filed under entry level finance jobs | No Comments »

This program is specifically designed for individuals who wish to pursue an exciting career in the continuously expanding financial services industry. Continued growth in the financial services sector provides exciting employment opportunities for qualified individuals. Rationalization and consolidation within the industry has reduced the number of traditional entry-level jobs, such as bank tellers. However, other factors have countered this by creating more stimulating and higher-skilled positions. These factors include a more marketing-focused industry, increased competition, demographics, advances in technology and a global financial environment. The skills required of financial services graduates have changed dramatically in recent years. Graduates must be appropriately licensed and accredited by successfully completing a number of industry courses. Centennial has designed the program to include these courses so that graduates may present employers with meaningful industry credentials. Students will take courses that lead to eligibility for securities licensing, and insurance licensing.

Make Money From Home To Achieve Financial Freedom

Posted by admin on September 25th, 2011 and filed under entry level finance | No Comments »

wp.me The question on everyone’s mind is: How to “Make money from home” and 2010 promises to be a colossal year for the home based business industry. This may lead you to an answer that involves providing products online. But before you go out and purchase all of the “instant guru toolkits” and “Midas touch” roadmaps, you must determine if you are meant for this type of venture. What I mean by that is that you need to decide if you have the commitment, aspiration, and self-control required to succeed. If you do, congratulations because you will be able to make a lot of cash in internet marketing. There are hundreds if not thousands of new business opportunities being promoted daily, so the next question is: which one do you select? Mark Yarnell (if you don’t know who he is then Google him, because the man is a genius) has a great filter to answer this question. He says that you have to ask yourself whether or not you would offer the same multi-level marketing company to your mother. If you can’t say yes, that company is not for you. The following methods assume that you have already enrolled in an affiliate program such as clickbank (free to enroll and they have tons of products). The first way is article marketing. The simple fact that you are reading this article and are reading this sentence is proof that this technique works. That is the basic idea here, build trust and they will do whatever you want. Serious dilema about a job offer as a Financial Advisor?

Posted by admin on August 21st, 2011 and filed under financial advisor jobs | 7 Comments »

I live in the suburbs of NY and I just got a Job offer in New York City as a Financial Advisor if my memory serves me correct, they are paid on a commission base. When I spoke to the recruiter on the phone about the pay whether if it is Salary or Commission he brushed me off saying just come to the interview next week and it will answer all your questions. I have worked as a Loan Officer before which is also commission based and with the way the mortgage industry is going, its terribly bad. So a commission based job left a really bad experience to me. And on top of it, the commute going to New York City is going to cost me money. On the other hand a local bank here in my area offered me a job as a Financial Specialist which offers a base salary and I am confused which one to take. Is it worth a gamble to take the job in New York City and hope for the best? Or play conservative with this local bank? On the other hand my wife and kids rely on me to make the right decision, please help.
Plus the way the economy is going these days looks like we’re heading for a recession, so I doubt if a lot of people would be investing this year. Thus making a decent living.

How to Turn Your Dumb Summer Job Into $162000

Posted by admin on July 9th, 2011 and filed under financial advisor jobs | 25 Comments »

In which John celebrates financial independence by explaining how minimum-wage summer jobs can become incredibly lucrative if only you save some of your money in a retirement account. In the US, the most common retirement accounts are called IRAs (IRAs have tax advantages), but any investment account will do. Just sock the money away in a low-fee diverse mutual fund, wait 50 years, and enjoy the magic of compound interest. Caveat: Obviously, I am not a financial advisor or investment professional. I am a novelist. Also, while it’s a good idea to start an IRA in high school for most people, it may be a BAD idea if you’re planning to seek financial aid from a private college in the US, because they might count your retirement savings against your financial aid application. (If you attend or will attend a public university, this is unlikely to happen according to my research, although again, I am a novelist, not a banker.) Ideas for finding pre-entry level job into finance/business industry?

Posted by admin on May 29th, 2011 and filed under entry level finance | 1 Comment »

I’m desperately trying to find a job for this summer. I know its really last minute. I already applied to about 10 jobs in my area on monsters jobs and career builder. I’m a Economics BA and finance minor. I will be a junior in the fall. Does anyone have any ideas for finding a job? My difficulty is that with where i’m at, i think an internship would be more appropriate. I’ve been applying to office assistant jobs. What are some job titles i should be looking at??? I was thinking of working in a bank but i only found a teller position open. Are there any other things i should try? I was thinking of trading stock more intensely to make some money. I really don’t want to have to resort to working at wal-mart or something.
